After taking this snap at Whole Foods the store manager came out and said "you can't take photos - corporate policy." Life springs atcha sometimes. And least you think this policy is unique to Whole Foods, Starbucks has it as well.

This video (best viewed in enlarged mode) was taken from the window of my office at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. I often see this mature hawk in flight or sitting in the trees next to the parking lot. Despite the urban, developed setting of this area, the hawk has amazingly made a home here. It appears several times a week.

On the way to run errands this afternoon I drove through our local regional park and took photos of Little Seneca Lake. Later at Borders a nice lady gave me some fresh Catoctin Mountain peaches from her basket - what a treat!

Cool air and low humidity this summer has made for some nice dawns.

The iPhone camera, which lacks a zoom, just doesn't do justice to the elevation of Sugarloaf Mt. even from this distance and in contrast to the trees in the foreground - it looks much higher live even from here. Sugarloaf (1282 feet above sea level.) is near Barnesville, Maryland, a 30 minute drive from my home. It reminds me of Mt. Ranier in how it rises up from relatively flat land.
