Traffic Calming

This sign in Germantown, MD alerts drivers to an upcoming series of speed bumps. I've never seen this particular message on signage before - I like it, "traffic calming." Its novel, functional and evocative of peacefulness.

That's unique! It puts a neat spin on things. Another possible sign in this vein might have been "vehicular yoga ahead." Let us know if you ever see that one?

Where was your photo taken?

It's in a shopping center near where I live in Germantowm MD.

Portland, OR, has had these signs up for some years. I, too, always felt a little better in those areas. Spoke a bit softer as I moved through the Calming zones.

The double meaning is likely inadvertent, but a subtle reminder, isn't it?

Years huh? - I knew there was a reason the D.C. area traffic is so crazy - everyone speeds (including me), its normative on some roads. Maybe I'll put up a few signs of my own, "People Calming Ahead."
