Here are a few things I overhead on inauguraton day that caught my attention.
- "I just don't know what's going to come out of my body today" - African-American lady speaking of her excitment.
- "God bless America, and the world" - musical performer at pre inauguration concert at the Lincoln Memorial.
- "...we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again..." - from Barack Obama's inauguaraton speech.
- "In today's sharp sparkle, this winter air, anything can be made, any sentence begun. - Elizabeth Alexander, inaugural poet, from "Praise Song for the Day".
- “What we were there for was to really serve the moment.” - Yo-Yo Ma, celloist, on why he didn't want to draw attention to himself or his instrument.
