It snowed last night leaving whiteness everywhere. Pics were taken from my balcony early this morning.

I was at Borders magazine stand today and this caught my eye in Tricycle, a Buddhist mag.
This is one of my favorite places in the world. I snapped this photo a few years ago and recently used it on a project. I wanted to share it with you here. Mt. Sopris (12,953) is to the right.
Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean— the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down— who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life
- Mary Oliver, The Summer Day
Its 14 degrees with a wind chill of -12 outside of my window. I am writing-out my 2010 resolutions and attempting to open to the possible in my "one wild and precious" year.
Once a year my long term memory dredges up this little ditty by The Christmas Jug Band featuring Dan Hicks (yes, that's the Dan Hicks of Hot Licks fame). I don't think Bing did this one but you never know. Enjoy, keep your doors locked and have a very Merry Christmas.
Music performed by the Vince Guaraldi Trio for "A Charlie Brown Christmas". Merry Christmas all -
It was official, a "blizzard warning" yesterday here in Germantown MD where 22 inches fell. It snowed at least 20 hours without stop. I was out early this morning to clean off my car (shown, kind of) and plan to venture out today to take more snaps. I'll post them here in real time as I take them using Posterous's nifty iPhone app PicPosterous.
Most of the photos were taken on the way to or at Black Hill Regional Park, 10 minutes from home. Can I say where the satellite dishes are? Probably but I'm not sure. There were no "No Trespassing" or "Do Not Take Photos" signs or checkpoints so I snapped a few.
Since I've begun to track my food intake more closely and physical movement with a body sensor on-line, and happened to have a spare notebook, I put the notebook in the kitchen. Its connected to Wi-Fi and updates my Fitbit body sensor information to the cloud at Fitbit every 15 minutes via the small black transmitter to right of the notebook - automatically and totally unbeknownst to me. I can also check e-mail, news, etc. Now we'll see if I can keep food and drink off of the screen - doubtful.

We've large deer and human populations in our greater Washington D.C. metro area (DC-VA-MD) and many car accidents, injuries and even fatalities result from deer bounding across roads and colliding with autos. This occurs especially in low light or night conditions. Below our county police remind us of this as we approach an especially active area.
